Yesterday, I flew from AMS to CAI on KL553. Another NWA Platinum Elite person flying with me was upgraded and, I went to the desk to check on my status. During this discussion, I was informed that since I had requested a diabetic meal, they were not allowed to upgrade me. This is news to me; has anyone else seen this?

What makes it more confusing is that I was upgraded on the KLM flight from YYZ to AMS I had taken only a few hours earlier.
