Agree with jiejie...For shopping or enjoying a few libations or stepping out into the exotic nightlife, the lower Sukhumvit area is an exciting and fun area in which to stay, easy access to the BTS(skytrain), only about 30-45 minutes to the airport and a much better alternative than any hotel down by the river. The JW Marriott (on soi 2) or the Sheraton Grande Sukhumvit come to mind. Behave yourself in Bangkok
