Many people:
- listen to radio shockjocks, like Dave Ramsey, who'd rather scare the crap outta them about credit, than educate them as to its proper usage. So they stick with debit only.
- aren't so easily terrified by self-promoting propaganda as the aforementioned crowd, but still would rather not have the temptation of an unsecured offering
- might like the option of a Visa for places that they can't use AmEx
- can't qualify for an AmEx, but still want to get DL miles
- etc
