Air Asia runs a KUL-TianJin route. It's marketed as Beijing. I found 60USD o/w in september

You mentioned that you might have issues getting into KUL...couldn't you just stay in transit and not enter KL? I know some countries just need a transit visa (like china) even if you're not entering. just a suggestion.
