If the OP doesn't have any checked luggage, it won't take much more than about 3 lines of commands to offload him anyway - it can be done in 10 seconds. I don't think they'd be waiting him for very long.

Could be an idea to tell them when he gets off at HKG, that he will not be coming back to board the continuing leg...
