I would also try to contact the hotel directly.
However, I would not bother adding the second guest at all. I most of the time book for 1 and then show up with mrs. chinatrvl. This has never been an issue. If there were a second person charge (which you can find out by using the ihg website and just try making a reservation), they will tell you at checkin.
