These smaller hotels are nearly all private owned and can change brands often. When they do, the correct thing would be for them to look at upcming reservations for award stays and notify the customers. They did not do that and other than the possibility of extending your award certificate, there is not much Wyndham can do for you.

Wyndham won't be able to do much of anything since this was Best Rate Guarantee reservation and not an award certificate. I doubt they can force a property that has left the brand to honor a reservation made under that brand or to even offer any sort of compensation for not honoring such a reservation.
