I check mine all the time and have been shorted a couple of times. The problem is, once you check out of the hotel, the rules say you can no longer make a claim for the plat arrival gift points.

points, what you can make a claim for (is if) you order an amenity and do not receive it as specified OR you are not offered any type of plat arrival gift at all.
as wolfgame has indicated, you could never know the points didn't post until you were long gone from the hotel.
