HGI is Hilton's answer to Courtyard -- and it beats it hands down because of the fridge and microwave. Also they were developed in CA, and have some sort of open "airy" meeting lounge. In Phila, it is upstairs and near the bar. In Alb, it is a regular lobby lounge, but the hotel has very high cielings. Both hotels, had the pantry, but they also both had restaurants, as well as pools!
BTW, Hampton beats Fairfield, and Homewood beats Residence Inn.
Obviously, Hilton has diversified quite a bit with the purchase of the Cendant (?) properties, and for the better!
