It's also hard to distinguish the abysmal of Y on domestic US flights (and indeed North American in general, as it would also go for a US-Mexico flight on a US airline) from the fact that US airlines do upgrade their elite passengers for free and systematically within capacity. In other words, US airlines could also transform their Y product into hell because their Platinum members (for instance) will escape hell over 95% of the times... and in F, you do get decent meals and a lot more room than in AF C... for free!
