Personally, I found Pisa to be the absolute biggest tourist trap I had ever seen. There's not a place anywhere more overrun with buses and loud people and vendors hawking T-shirts and postcards.
While it's worth a look, I would not care to return, and if I was in a situation where cutting out the Pisa visit would enable a person to see more sights elsewhere, I'd recommend that.
