There are a number of threads about this. It has something to do with their computer systems not playing nicely together, seat requests and flights being canceled. I have a reservation that I made a few months ago with an Af segment and it has been just fine but not all are that lucky.

I do not think that it is something AF is doing on purpose because they just don't like CO.
