Hyatt Place Denver Tech Center REVIEW - MASTER THREAD

I really enjoyed my stay, which was Thurs-Sun in early June. It was inexpensive thanks to an Orbitz discount package (with airfare). The staff were accomodating. I had to change rooms twice because the first two had the smell of cigarette smoke. The rooms are large and comfortable and the DTC area is quiet. I liked the AC because it was a window unit, personally controllable, and loud enough to drown out to the sounds of the party that was taking place down the hallway on Saturday night. The hotel is a bit hard to find in the Denver Tech Center area, but the area is easily reached by freeways. Bring directions and a map from Google Maps before you go. Free parking was available in the back of the hotel. You will need a rental car (or your own car) if you're staying here -- public transport is not a good option.

The towels are a bit scratchy, and the bedding is not the plush, comfortable Westin bedding, but all very clean and supposed to be washed after every guest (per my discussion with a manager). There was free continental breakfast each morning, which perfectly suited my needs, except one day when I had to be up early, and breakfast is not available on weekends before 7am (weekdays, 6:30am).

Free internet access on two desktops, and free printing came in very useful for getting directions. There was also free wifi. Free ice available on odd-numbered floors.

Huge 42" TVs can be swiveled to be viewed from living area or bedroom area, but the angle of swivel is limited, so you cannot view it easily from all parts of either room. This is fine for the solo traveller, but makes it harder for groups.

The bathroom sink is in the bedroom area; the bathroom contains only a WC and a bathtub. No moisturizer is available, which I feel is a significant oversight because Denver's climate tends to be very dry. Moisturizer is definitely available in Hyatt's Portico line of toiletries and the regular Hyatts have them. The closet is small and drawer space somewhat limited -- again, adequate for one person, less than ideal for two. I'd gladly give up some of the expansive living room space for more drawers/closets. Finally, the water seems different from that in downtown Denver -- I never really felt like I was able to wash the soap off my hands. This took some getting used to.

On the whole, however, I give this stay five out of five. I slept well, and I ate well.
