It definitely takes patience. The flight which pushed me up to 1P was almost exactly a month ago, and I just received my card in the mail last night. What was amusing was that I also received my 2P card less than a week ago.

Regarding lounge access, as long as your status is reflected on your BP, you should be able to get in without problems, at least from my limited experience.
