I was referring to the grouping of four 'lifts' that serve the guest room floors, lobby, and health club. The lift to the parking a garage is a conventional one with an up or down button outside and garage level selection buttons inside. The bank of four elevators serving the guest rooms are labelled A, B, C, D and there is a keypad outside the elevator where one enters the floor number desired. The display then indicates which elevator will arrive to take you to the desired floor (i.e. 'C'). When the elevator arrives, there is a display in the door frame that indicates all the floors that the elevator has been programmed to stop on. Although there is a full bank of buttons inside the elevator, they are non-functional.

In the lobby, they had a bellman posted full-time by the elevators just to explain the system.

Of course, perhaps they removed all this in the week since I left the hotel.
