BAEC card being required for lounge entry (notwithstanding status being displayed on boarding pass) was explained to me that system could reflect incorrect status shortly after after end of membership year ie. having dropped from Gold to Silver, system could still show status as Gold.

Seemed pretty bizarre and clearly a bum computer system.
