Going into the main terminal, check-in and walk to the FTC doesn't make any sense to me. He can check in with the FCT.
Because if he has a few pieces of luggage it is easier to check in in A (which is almost on the way to the FCT) instead of navigating a heavy trolley across the (sometimes uneven) walkway to the FCT.
