If you have to change the US leg and they are on separate tickets, then you are probably out of luck. Since LAX-LAS is way less than $150 if bought in advance and the change fee is $150, you might end up having to buy a last minute ticket. I am not sure if there is any way around that.

If it does happen, I wonder if you can also get BR to add LAX-LAS when you make the change. It might end up cheaper. I am not sure though. (BR routinely books people continuing from their US hubs on US carriers. If you leave 3-4 hours in LAX, it should be more than enough. If the schedule requires (forces) you to overnight at LAX, then ask for "STPC".)

Also, think what you can do at LAX to make your transit easier. You should be able to have them tag your bag to LAS (if you can show them the flight confirmation). At LAX, you can just take your bags through customs and then give it back to the transit desk. You can then just walk to T1 without the bags - and probably saves you the bag fees if you are not Elite on Star Alliance. (I actually take the bags myself as I feel it reduces the likelihood of them getting lost.)

Good luck.
