Oh, well, in that case, I guess the terrorists just need to find an agreeable PCP that is part of their ideology to write a "note" confirming the substance they (and their 3 buddies) want to bring on is harmless. This is simply another example of why this rule is ridiculous.

I don't doubt that a) there are liquid substances that are explosive and b) limiting the volume any individual can bring in does reduce the risk presented by (a). However, to allow substantially larger quantities of other liquids because they are supposedly "safe" is a HUGE hole. Either liquids present a threat or they do not.

If I show the TSO a bottle of what is supposedly contact lens solution, how are they to know it's not 16 oz of explosives? If the argument is that rule is a balance between safety and convenience, then it would seem you have neither.

A rule stating: NO liquids, pastes, gels, peanut butter, deodorant (which is NOT a paste, gel or liquid, but is restricted) is an EASIER rule to understand. That's better than a mish-mash of nonsense like we have now.

If that's TOO inconvenient, then all volumes of liquids should be allowed as long as they fit in the proscribed carry-on rules of the airline and the TSA should be screening for explosives themselves.
