The short 5 minute ride to Old San Juan from here ends up being a $30 "tax" to your night; turning what is already an expensive proposition to eat out to ridiculous.
We took the city bus! Concierge gave us directions, two short blocks from hotel, $1/person. We were nerveous, but it worked out great. All the drivers were friendly and helpful. Ms. Zip took the line to Old Town and back, and had no problems. Going the opposite direction takes you to the Condado region, with a great number of fun restaurnats. This area felt very safe at night, with many families (and lots of police) out to enjoy the evenings and view of the ocean.
