Other airlines have in the past solicited feedback from customers through private surveys. AFKL launched a social network that was stacked with airline employees singing the praises of the company. I think stuff like that only contributes to the feelings of alienation most of us have with respect to our airline.
Spanair, long the red-headed stepchild of SAS, was recently purchased by a group of investors and is re-launching, along with their move to Barcelona's BEAUTIFUL new T1. I came across something on their web site today that just blew me away:
http://www.spanair.com/web/es-es/Co-creacion/
This is a site that anyone can sign up to and submit suggestions. Right there in the open where everyone can see them. Then people can vote for the ones they like, and comment on them as well. They're not censoring anything that I can see, as there are quite a few suggestions that don't exactly flatter the company.
I added several myself, and they're getting a ton of interest, votes, and opinions, from the little (sturdier luggage tags) to the big (scrap their stupid "x4" fare structure and bring back business class) to the huge (scrap their crap Spanair Plus FFP and join Miles and More).
I think it's refreshing to see them making the effort, and promising to listen to their customers.
