Well, fluffums, many of these people may be US Citizens, too. I do wonder what an "obvious mexican" sounds like on the phone. I wonder if fluffums had any ancestors who moved to this country from elsewhere who spoke decent english with a thick accent?

That said, it is frustrating when it is difficult to understand the person on the other end of the line, or in person, in a service location. This is a common occurrence in the SF Bay Area, but its an accepted part of life. And it makes for an interesting place to live.

That further said, I didn't know failure to speak english without an accent is a sign that a country isn't developed. I have been to several developed countries where english isn't the first nor even second language. In fact, some of them even speak spanish as the first language.

Frankly, I'd prefer you not being a guest at the same hotel that I'm at, so perhaps it is best you take your business elsewhere.

And remember that these are hardworking people happy to have a job, and their language skills are probably pretty decent, save the accent. I suppose you would prefer they were on welfare, or "all go back to Mexico" (when many may have been born or raised in the US and only a small percentage from Mexico, a delightful, yet poor place, by the way.

I know this thread is likely to get locked soon... but for further reference, I'm a white 3rd generation American.

It would seem that Hilton and the HHonors program, worldly in nature, is not designed for thee.

Ok enough said. Now someone lock this message before it gets REALLY nasty, because I really held my tongue on this one.
