We arrive 8:20 am Friday, June 19, on UA 861 from IAD and depart to Belo Horizonte on JJ 3338 at 12:10 pm. From other sites, it appears that UA and JJ use different wings of Terminal 2. From those and previous posts here, it seems we'll have to claim our bags (at least one checked, unfortunately), clear customs, go landside, and re-enter security for the TAM flight. It also seems that GRU can be slow/chaotic in the morning when most international flights arrive.
Having done some homework, a few questions for those who know GRU:
1. Will 3:50 give us lots of extra time, a little extra time, or what? (We know that this would be a best guess and individual days can vary.)
2. Are there any lounges we'll be able to use on the TAM side of the terminal - with OW status, *A status, a Diners Club card, or for a reasonable fee? Do they have showers?
3. Suggestions about places to eat some breakfast?
4. Any other non-obvious thoughts?
Respondeing to your questions in order:
1. It will give you enough time, no problem;
2. There is a Diners Club lounge in GRU: it is located at departures floor between T1 and T2 open from 6:00 a.m until 23:45 p.m. it has WI-FI among other amenities.
If you are looking for showers (plus spa, hairdresser, etc), there is excellent paid shower called
Fast Sleep located at the arrivals floor, Terminal 2, Wing C.
3. You will find many places to have your breakfast, especially on departures floor. Ask for a "pao de queijo" (cheese bread)!
4. Enjoy your connection in GRU!
