Changing Planes in Madrid to Non-Schengen country

I am flying AA DFW-MAD and continuing on with LY to TLV.
One thread dealing with that was closed and did not address non-Schengen transit, so I am posting anew.

Both flights arrive and depart resp. in T4S with about 2hr connection time.

Do I need to clear passport control and customs and re-check in, or do they offer transit passage without passing any controls?

Is there an IB lounge in Terminal 4S or do I need to take the train to the main terminal (not covered in the consolidated thread?

Any advice is appreciated.
