The one thing I do like about DL is that it clears into V instantly.
On Wednesday, I booked a NW trip for travel on Saturday (3 days before departure). R was available for all four flights on Saturday. Upgrades cleared overnight for the flights instead of immediately - not a huge issue but still not as convenient as DL.
one thing you guys are forgetting...it's quite RARE for NW to NOT upgrade you BEFORE the window....as a gold I've been EUA'd a week out before (yes 7 days)...but if there's a chance they'll sell the seats I've also had it not happen until 24 hours before departure...my experience on DL is that I've never had it happen BEFORE the window and quiet often it's a battlefield upgrade
