When they say exactly, they mean exactly. If you have a middle name on your ID, you must have the same middle name (not a middle initial) on your boarding pass. Unfortunately, many people's frequent flyer accounts, credit cards, etc. do not have the exact same name as on their ID. I booked award tickets from my FF account. They have my name as it appears on my FFaccount, not as it appears on my ID.
just use diffent id. my passport has my middle initial my dl does not. depending on the airline i know some bp's have it some dont. i will just use the id to match the bp.
