If anything provided by the airline prior to takeoff has to be picked up, then how was AA (back in the 90's) able to have large coolers with what I believed they called their "Bistro Bag" lunches that everyone would pick up as they boarded to be eaten later? I even remember flight attendants distributing them prior to take off to passengers who had forgotten to get one while boarding.
