Actually, they did. Didn't Atta and friends connect through a smaller airport in New England?

Still, it was sure risky to hinge your success on making your connection! Makes you wonder what their plan was if they missed their connection? They had lost the element of surprise by the time of the Pentagon a/c and certainly by UA 93. I said it before that the bad guys underestimated our communications robustness which quickly eroded their element of surprise.
I know we're straying. But, it would be interesting to read additional thoughts.
