No, it is not strange for SCL crews to fly MIA-Central America and South America. They fly AA 957/AA912 daily, but many also fly different trips every month. All of them are trained for the 752, 763, and 772, and some are even trained for the A-300 and 738. Some other cities that they fly to out of MIA on a regular basis include CLO, GRU, GYE, LPB, MGA, PTY, SAP, SJO, UIO, VVI etc.
