There is no such thing as same-day standby for 50 CAD. You mean you want to make a confirmed change to another flight for 50 CAD.
When you make the same day change using OLCI, it is done at the very beginning of the OLCI process. If AC has set things up in a rational manner, there is no reason why you couldn't first make the same day confirmed change, and then be offered (if available) the option of an LMUP on the new flight.
But I don't know for sure. Only AC could confirm whether it has been set up that way. I don't see why not.
Sorry my bad, I used the wrong term there. But yeah that is what I was trying to imply, a confirmed change. Sidebar observation, but that is rather nice that once OLCI begins (24 hours prior to departure) that if you should change your flight it is considered in the "Same day" category; that is if I am understanding you correctly
