From older post other member has report that Macr Polo Club (MPC) is not uncommon to give you club sector / club miles for the travel for happened last few months.
I think no one can answer how much you can have before you sign up ....

To make matters worst, I just went to the UK from HKG on BA and got NO miles b/c it was a cheap fare (I had no idea). Cheap ticket no miles - that's always true anyway, same with AM / MPC

If you are base in HKG and most traveling is in Asia, Asiamiles is probably the only FF you need. You can turbo-charge your miles earning speed by a list of different credit cards. see
