I am on 1482, ABQ-HOU, on 6/12. At 3 days out, I received an email telling me that I'd been upgraded to first class, but I wasn't given a seat assigment, but told "Your new seat will be assigned upon check-in or at the departure gate." My new itinerary also reflected the upgrade to FC.

I was curious why I hadn't been assigned a seat, so I went to "Flight status and information," and saw that I wasn't on the "upgraded to FC" roster. I checked the seat map and saw that there is still 1B available, and assume that is the seat I will get when I check in. 7 of 8 seats are occupied.

I am curious why I wasn't on the upgrade roster when I was told I was upgraded. Also, why did they upgrade me so early (though I'm not complaining) if they had to hold the seat till check in?

I assume that all will go well, and I will be upgraded whether I sit in 1B or not. Has anyone seen this sort of thing? Do I need to be concerned that my upgrade was just fleeting and won't 'stick'?
