I don't see the problem. It is ok if the ticket doesn't have your middle name or middle initial. The problem would be if the ticket had a name that wasn't on your ID. So, don't go adding a middle name to the ticket if your ID doesn't show a middle name. For the family with the same first names, I would book one with just the first name and the other with the first name and middle initial.
