The airport is only 4 miles from the city centre.

We used to put people in the Amara hotel (Le Van Sy street) mainly because it was near our office which is also near the airport. The Amara is about 2 miles from the airport. Perfectly decent enough (just), though this is as of a couple of years ago.

Frankly at those times, traffic won't be a problem wherever you go. I wouldn't hesitate to stay in a city centre hotel. If you're jet lagged you can always wander around a bit - not so safe/pleasant out of the centre.

If it's the Indochine, Hai Ba Trung then it's right in the centre. I think 15mins to the airport is optimistic - I'd say 25mins dead of night, 45mins typical traffic conditions. I'd allow 30 mins early morning. Amara would be half that. Get them to order a taxi for you - can take a little longer during the night. Won't be a problem in the centre (the Indochine is right by the MaiLinh office - they have a taxi network).

Probably someone else can recommend somewhere right by the airport.
