You assume that the hotel would not be happy to see an unreasonable person go elsewhere. They made a reasonable offer. Note, the hotel across the room won't give a room over that period.

If I was running that place and someone tried blackmailing me with a "give me a cheap rate despite the fact it is your busiest time of the year or I'll take my custom elsewhere" , I'd tell them to go elsewhere rather than give in to that sort of attitude
