They set up the YQ surcharges when gas was a lot higher than it is today. Under your logic, one might conclude (inappropriately) that the YQ surcharges would have dropped or been eliminated when gas prices dropped considerably in the fall of 2008. Obviously, that didn't happen.
+1, Also all the other BS fees that were created when oil hit record highs, like the bag fees, higher change fees, award fees, and others that didnt disappear when the oil fell to record lows. One day they will charge you to breath in the aircraft or bring your own oxygen tank.
