This is a benefit of being a SkyTeam Elite Plus member when flying internationally. With the impending switch to *A it will also apply to Star Gold (*G) status which will include CO gold and platinum elites on international itineraries.

Of course, the definition of "international" isn't strictly a geopolitical one and there are variations in the rules for the Canadian and Caribbean/Latin American markets that are worth knowing about. This is covered in the FAQ post about PC access.
