My first trip to Savannah and Charleston. My mother and I will be flying in and out of SAV. We will have 6 full days of sightseeing.

How would you split up the days? I have read that there is more to see/do in Charleston and the surrounding area. So maybe 2 in Savannah and 4 in Charleston?

Also, we were planning to go through Beaufort on the way from Savannah to Charleston. Is 170 to 17 the best route? I read 17 is a slow 2 lane highway and you have to be careful.

On the way back, we are interested in the fastest-safest route. Would that 17 to I95 or I26 to I95 (even though it adds quite a few miles)?
