If you have a paper diamond welcome kit upgrade voucher, you can try to use that on an award stay. Just make sure that you call the reservations center and have them note on your reservation that you are going to try to use a paper upgrade certificate.
Thanks Mike, yes I do have a paper upg certificate that came along with my diamond package. As you sugggested I'll try calling the diamond res # and request them to note the paper upg. cert. My stay isn't until later this month (went for the GHT instead of PHT
