Throw in the usual headwind going the westbound direction, and 1423 = 1710.
I don't doubt that the Captain's decision was a good one, but is this the sort of thing that receives TSB scrutiny? Or will it just be investigated internally by AC maintenance, and the avionics manufacturer, and left at that?
