So are we going to see the first BA strike of the summer anytime soon?
The meeting held by the unions for ground staff, was simply an opportunity to inform the membership of the current state of things and the proposals that BA have put forward (or not). It was also an attempt to determine how the membership feels about the way forward. When the question of industrial action was raised, it was made clear that it is not a route the unions or the membership wish to go.

The primary concern is job security and allowing us to do what we were employed for and the company insists it wants.....to provide service that matters. However, with the uncertainty and the constant threat of job loss, none of us feel safe and all the discussion now is about whether we will have jobs and even if we will be outsourced, at the rate things seem to be going.

I won't go into detail here, because it is best that these things are dealt with between management and the unions. There will be long hard discussions.

We do not want any action that will cause disruption or further harm the viability of the airline, but we do want to be treated fairly and will make some sacrifices necessary to help the company. Any sacrifices should not be forced only on those at the bottom, but must also be throughout the company.
