I'm kind of scratching my head.... Certainly they could've had any issue fixed at LHR for less than the half-million (or more) $$ this unscheduled diversion would have cost..
Actually, if the position given is correct, it would have been closer to YYZ, at 1423 nautical miles, vs. 1710 for LHR. Of course, YUL would have been even closer, at 1149.
