I've been reading a couple of hotel reviews on here that suggests that some hotels will upgrade your room but not include breakfast. In particular the Hilton Dublin Airport which I have coming up soon.
I understood that my preference was 'upgrade where room available and breakfast'.
Can they offer one but not the other? Could I argue it out at reception?
Also common seems to be the 'inability' of staff to then swap the room upgrade for the breakfast option instead in that situation.

As a Diamond I was given a "room upgrade" which looked like a normal room to me but no breakfast. I balked the but the hotel didn't budge.....I changed hotels.
It has been a while but I would call to be honest and nail down what you are getting....especially if you can still cancel.
