Yes, I do agree it can get quite loud, but as VS let you select your seat at time of booking, it's not too hard to get one away from the bar or upstairs if on a 747. Most night flights I've been on don't have the loud crowd around the bar though, it's more a day flight thing.

Being a leisure traveller with no status on BA, I tend to go more for VS as I don't want to risk getting stuck in a middle seat. I just make sure I eat in the lounge beforehand
