It seems UA staff can check you in manually virtually everywhere.
I collected my AMS-ORD BP at UA in FRA before flying on a separate Ticket on LH to AMS. OLCI should work for most airports anyway except some airport / security regulations disallow it (eg. BRU, EZE)
