Again, this is from personal experience - and referred to in another thread if anyone wants to take time searching for it.

Mrs HB missed the first segment of a return flight from LGW after falling asleep on the train. She had an inflexible cheepo ET return. Nonetheless BA ticket desk at LGW re-booked her one-way on a different route on a new PNR and advised her to call BA to get the return segment on the original PNR protected.

I did this for her successfully, and was informed by the very helpful agent I spoke to that if I had not called, the return segment would have been cancellled automaticaly due to her no-show when the return flight opened for checkin.

So, in the case of the OP, if what I was told is correct, the remainder of the itinerary will cancel automatically when the segment following the no-show opens for checkin, unless (s)he can get BA to protect it.
