I like having the card, but it is not worth it, for me, to pay the full price that Clear wants for a card.
I got the card from the Marriott Plat promo too, but have only actually used it twice in 13 months (one year plus 45 day grace period offered by Clear to entice renewal). I live in Fort Lauderdale, where there is no Clear station, and the Fort Lauderdale Airport Authority has declined, so far, to put Clear in the four terminals due to lack of room, though supposedly they are reconsidering that decision. Of all the airports that I travel to on a regular basis, only DCA has had Clear, and each time I was there, the security line was so short, that Clear actually took more time than it would have to go through security the regular way. Denver does have Clear, but it has not been open during the hours that I was there the last two times. Clear is certainly not worth the $179 per year membership fee that they are asking. To me, Clear is worth $40, if that. However, if Clear was in more airports, and I was able to use it on a regular basis, I could certainly see it being worth a lot more money. I wish I would have been using it regularly, and it was in all the airports that I use, to save time, because I am forever cutting it close, and I have certainly missed a gate or two by less than five minutes wasted standing in a security line, standing there watching the clock. Maybe one day Clear will actually rise to it's true hype and potential. If anyone else has any other feed back on this, I would certainly like to read about it, but right now, to me, it is a big bag of over hyped hot air.
