Well, our dinner order was not taken until 30 minutes into the flight and when I inquired at 75 minutes about the status of dinner, i was told shortly. At 1 hour 45 minutes I was told our appetizers are coming out soon. I said I wanted to eat and sleep, they seemed surprised. Am I being unreasonable to want to have my dinner quicker and then go to sleep. From my memory of flights on CO and AF i am asked when I board when I would like to eat.
Sounds like they may have had issues in the galley or with the meal preparation? The usual rule is that BE dinner orders are taken by the Flight Leader BEFORE takeoff. Sometimes, due to delays and the need to get the flight out as soon as possible, it may not be possible for all orders to be taken before takeoff. In those cases, I have always seen the Flight Leader complete the orders within 10-15 minutes after takeoff.
