I think the issue of the galley is noise, particularly at meal prep times. As I'm wearing either noise cancellation headset or noise isolating for almost all the flight, the noise doesn't bother me. Ergo, I rather like the seat especially since it has the extra shelf space.
I suppose some would find the noise intrusive but I'm not sure sitting in say, 8A would be that much different from 9A in that respect.
