I live in Gaithersburg. It is a former Marriott, and it is under new management. Located between Sam's Club, a Toys-R-Us and a CompUSA. Not a bad hotel, but few amenities and it does seem to run on a tight budget for a Hilton.
Not very convienient to Baltimore, at all. It would take me 60-70 min. in the afternoon, and possibly more if you left after 4 p.m.
For HHonors, I have been steering visitors to Montgomery County (MD) to the Embassy Suites in Washington, D.C, right at the border with Maryland at Western and Wisconsin Avenues. Weekend rates for the Embassy Suites is about $20 more, and includes use of the health club with indoor pool. FWIW, this would also be about 10-15 min. closer to Baltimore.
